Walking mermaids come to Coney Island

I caught the Mermaid Parade last weekend, fortunately the light rain
was sporadic with very few drowning mermaids.

Running Tushes

My wonderful friend Carly is also participating in the NYC Marathon, however she is running for a good cause, Team for Kids, establishes running & athletic programs for children in underdeserved communities through out NYC. She wants to raise $2500, so help her out! (Instead of spending your money on booze and cheap thrills)

A bird flew into my life

On my way to the park this weekend I spotted a woman and her daughter staring at this beautiful blue parakeet. I stopped to inquire what the situation was with the bird. Apparently they found the bird lounging out on their fence. I mentioned that I use to have a parakeet and it died about a year ago, what's also strange is that I was looking into getting another bird but decided to hold off for a while, what luck. They didn't want to keep the bird and after a nice man helped me get the bird down from the tree, off I went with Hawk (the little parakeet that flew into my life)

On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!

Dear Manuela Oprea,
Congratulations! Youre in for the experience of a lifetime, the ING New York City Marathon 2006!

What luck, on my first try I was selected. I'm really looking forward to this event and plan on taking a camera along to document the insanity of running this marathon. Hopefully I'll have enough energy to shoot and run at the same time. The hard part is the training since I'm not a very disciplined person, however, I find guilt to be a good motivator.

Another drawing in progress

I started this piece a few weeks ago, working layer upon layer.
The background still needs some work. (pen & acrylic on wood board)
