Romania’s turning point

A historic event will take place at midnight in Romania, beyond the usual New Year’s festivity. The country will officially be part of the European Union. Many celebrations will take place including fireworks in Bucuresti. My family will be there to commemorate this important turning point. The journey for Romania since that cold December night in 1989 has been a long and difficult one. Ceausescu, was put on trial then executed on TV while the entire country stopped to watch. I remember waking up that morning in our small New York apartment. My mother and I watch the news footage in amazement. There was joy but also fear of the unknown in the eyes of all Romanians. The new found freedom also brought instability, corruption and a sense of loss, for some. Hopefully 2007 will bring clarity along with positive changes to Romania. (Photo: Bucuresti taken in 1995)

Recapturing

The year coming to an end has left me in a reflective state of mind. I’ve reached no conclusions only more experiences. I’m also feeling a sense of urgency as far as reaching my goals in life. For whatever reason at some point I lost track of what it was I was trying to accomplish. I placed myself in neutral and started coasting. Recently I decided to get back into photography. I’ve been going through my archive reexamining my photos, trying to get a better idea of my aesthetic and what I was trying to capture. I’m excited again, looking to shoot more in the coming year along with updating my website. The urgency is buzzing at my ear. (Photos: The girls, FL 2003)

Missing summer

The warm summer is in the past, no more leisurely swims in the pool. My return flight from Budapest was delayed back in August which gave me the perfect opportunity to enjoy the magnificent Gellért Bath. The pool and the spa uses Gellért Hill's mineral hot springs. The water contains calcium, magnesium, hydro carbonate, alkalis, chloride, sulphate, and fluoride ,very therapeutic.
